As you know, Kirk Hammett made no contribution to Metallica’s latest album “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct”. Speaking in an interview by Bailey and Southside Podcast, Kirk Hammett explained his thoughts on the situation. He said:
“I don’t know what happened… But you know what? I’m sitting on a mountain of music, right now, this second! I have totally overcompensated it!
You want to write something that kind of like just keeps on giving people happiness, enjoyment, whatever…
You want to write a piece of music that someone can just go to, and just continually get whatever they need to get out. And I think when you have achieved that, then that’s real success.
When you can be of service to someone through music and create something, I don’t really want to call a musical product, but if you can come up with this experience that will long time afterwards continue to help people, and bring people joy and happiness in whatever small ways, then that’s amazing thing.
For me, that’s like, almost spiritual.“
