Mastodon’s latest album called “Once More ‘Round The Sun” was released in 2014. Album sold around 34,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. That was huge success for the band.

After the last 2 years with the shows, Mastodon will record a new album. Troy Sanders talked with Atlanta Business Chronicle and mention about the new album of Mastodon. He says:

“We’ve been working on it for the bulk of this year. We kind of dedicated 2016 to writing a record. We go into the studio in October and plan to have a new record out and on the shelves in early 2017.

We’re going to record it in the Atlanta area, so we’ll get to go home and sleep in our own beds at night. Basically, we are going to play [at the Project Pabst Atlanta festival on] October 1, then the next day we being recording and we will be holed up at an Atlanta studio for the month of October.

We’re excited because we’ve done lots of touring over the past few years. It’s that refreshing cycle of write, record, tour, tour, tour, take a break, write, record, tour, tour, tour. This is one of the many healthy transitions that we do as a band to keep our momentum going. We’re excited about recording because we haven’t recorded a record in over two years. Positive vibes are in the house.”
