The co-founder and ex-frontman of Behemoth, Adam Nergal Darski, recently posted a photo of Ricky Gervais on his Instagram account and included a quote by him in which Gervais talks about the reception of offensive jokes.
As you know, Nergal was the co-founder of the Polish extreme metal band Behemoth which was formed back in 1991, and their debut album ‘Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic)’ was released in April 1995. Nergal was happy to be in the band until Venom and other bands joined Behemoth to create the Temple of Fullmoon.
With his recent Instagram post, Nergal revealed one of his New Year’s Resolutions and stated that he was inspired by the comedian, actor, and writer Ricky Gervais. As you know, Gervais is well-known for his career as a comedian and while his jokes are enjoyed by many, some find his sense of humor offensive.
Ricky Gervais had once said that you can joke about anything you want and if people get offended, you can just choose not to care. This statement was apparently highly appreciated by Nergal who posted a photo of Gervais featuring his famous quote and said that this should be a ‘new year’s and whole life’s resolution for ALL of YOU out there.’
Here’s what Ricky Gervais once said:
“Please stop saying ‘you can’t joke about anything anymore.’ You can. You can joke about whatever the fuck you like. And some people won’t like it and they will tell you they don’t like it. And then it’s up to you whether you give a fuck or not. And so on. It‘s a good system.”
Here’s what Nergal in the caption of his recent Instagram post:
“Amen to those HOLY words Ricky Gervais 🤘 and let it be the new year’s and whole life’s resolution for ALL of YOU out there!”
