Queen’s current fronting member and former contestant of American Idol, Adam Lambert, spoke in a recent interview with The Times and revealed if he is impersonating legendary Freddie Mercury or not.
In the conversation, Adam said that he didn’t want to copy Freddie and mentioned the differences between Freddie and himself. He said that they have different looks and experiences, and that’s why he didn’t try to be like Freddie.
Even though there are some parallel things between them like being a loud personality, Adam knew that the audience won’t be seeing him as Freddie. Because of that, Adam did his best to please the audience during the concerts and make sure nobody disappointed.
In this way, Adam showed that he wanted to prove himself to the Queen audience by trying to be just himself and touched upon the importance of making the Queen fans satisfied in the live shows.
Here is what Adam Lambert said:
“I knew I didn’t want to do an impersonation. Freddie and I are different. We look different, we have had different experiences.
There are parallels — I’ve been known to have a loud personality, and let’s say there are similarities to our personal lives — but I’m aware that the audience is not seeing Freddie.
That’s why I have to give the best performance I possibly can and make sure nobody leaves disappointed.”
