Queen’s live performance vocalist, Adam Lambert, recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and announced that his fans can get the opportunity to hang out with him virtually backstage at 2021 Stonewall Day.
Aside from a talented and famous musician, Adam Lambert is one of the most well-known LGBTQ+ advocates of our time. He launched the Feel Something Foundation in late 2019 which aims to ensure that charities that support individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, who are facing numerous issues, are being assisted.
In late January 2021, Adam Lambert had announced that he will be partnering with Pride Live as a representative of the Feel Something Foundation to organize Stonewall day 2021. Stonewall Day is the commemoration and celebration day of the Stonewall Riots/Uprising which are now considered to be a catalyst of the LGBTQ+ rights movement.
The Stonewall Riots began on June 28, 1969, after the Stonewall Inn – one of the most famous gay bars in New York City – was raided by the police which led to a riot as the armed forces roughly hauled patrons, employees, and customers out of the club. Even though that was not the first instance of police brutality against LGBTQ+ members, it was the last straw. The Stonewall riots lasted six days and the protests led to violent clashes with law enforcement.
Although the Stonewall Riots were unofficially celebrated each year after that, 49 years later, the social advocacy and community engagement organization named Pride Live officially established Stonewall Day as a commemoration day and it has been celebrated since then. With his post in January, Adam Lambert had announced that he’ll also be involved in the organization of this year’s Stonewall Day.
With his most recent post, he informed his fans that they can get the chance to hang out with him virtually backstage, and even watch the pre-show and soundcheck with a donation of $10 or more. All donations ‘will support Pride Live in their mission for equality’ and in this way, fans can get to both meet their favorite artist and show their support for a good and crucial cause.
Here’s what Adam Lambert said in the caption of his post:
“I want to meet YOU behind the scenes at 2021 Stonewall Day! Win a virtual backstage tour, virtual meet & greet with me, and stick around for my pre-show soundcheck! Your donation will support Pride Live in their mission for equality. We’ll have an amazing time for an even more amazing cause. Enter now at the link in bio!”
