Alice Cooper’s touring guitarist Nita Strauss recently posted a couple of photos on her Instagram account and announced that she’ll be joining Herman Li on his live stream in order to jam with fellow guitarists in support ‘the legendary Jason Becker.’
Jason Becker started climbing the ladder of fame in the ’80s by playing with Marty Fieldman in Cacophony and then with his solo career. He attracted great attention with his work on David Lee Roth’s ‘A Little Ain’t Enough For Him‘ album but his performance was cut short when he got diagnosed with ALS.
The musician lost his ability to speak in 1996 but he now uses his eyes and a computer to compose music. In fact, he released his latest album ‘Triumphant Hearts‘ in December 2019. Lately, he encountered some health problems, and currently, his ‘medical bills are higher than ever,’ which forced Becker to auction his own guitars.
Dozens of musicians in the rock and metal community decided to support Becker during his difficult time and have come together since March to appear in the series of live stream fundraisers, co-organized by DragonForce’s Herman Li.
With her recent Instagram post, Nita Strauss revealed that she too will appear in Herman Li’s live stream on Thursday at 1 pm PT/ 4 ET. She invited her fans to join this free-to-watch live stream in order to show their support to ‘the guitar hero we all needed,’ who now needs us.
Here’s what Nita Strauss said in the caption of her recent post:
I’m very honored to join Herman Li and so many awesome guitarists worldwide for a livestream jam in support of our hero, the legendary Jason Becker.
As you may have heard, Jason has been having some complications to his health lately and has even had a couple of trips to the hospital. His medical bills are higher than ever now and he is even auctioning some of his own guitars to cover the costs.
Jason is the guitar hero we all needed – and now we have the chance to show up in full force when he needs us. Please join us on Thursday at 1 pm PT/ 4 ET if you can at Herman Li’s Twitch channel. There is no cost to view the stream and no account needed- just click the link, I’ll be there at that time!
All funds raised will go directly to Jason’s family to help with his medical bills and needs. So far over $50,000 has been raised! I know not everyone is in a position to donate right now, but even your presence there in the livestream will make an impact! From the first time Josh V surprised me with meeting Jason, we have always wanted to do something to help, and there are more things in the works!
Tag your shred friends in the comments, and I’ll see you guys on Thursday. Let’s Shred for Jason Becker.”
