Mötley Crüe members, frontman Vince Neil, bass guitarist Nikki Sixx, and drummer Tommy Lee, recently posted some photos on their Instagram accounts and celebrated their legendary band’s 40th year on the metal scene.
As you know, the American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe was formed back in 1981 and they are known as one of the most famous metal bands of all time. They have released nine albums all of which ranked in the Top 10 albums on the Billboard charts, one of which, ‘Dr. Feelgood,’ even reached Number 1.
Although the band had some brief lineup changes in the mid-’90s when Neil and Lee decided to take a break, they both returned to the band some years later. Both Neil and Lee had to deal with some legal troubles which probably forced them to take a step back from the metal scene.
Mötley Crüe members were known for their hedonistic lifestyle in the sense that they used an excessive amount of drugs, such as cocaine, heroin, pills, and alcohol. However, they all had a good time while playing together and gave their fans a total of nine successful albums, and consequently wrote their names in the history of metal music.
Just some hours ago, it was Mötley Crüe’s 40th anniversary, and the band’s co-founders wanted to take a moment to appreciate everything they have done together, the countries they have been to, the countries they have visited, and how their careers as metal stars have changed their lives.
While Nikki Sixx wrote a long and quite emotional message, Vince Neil preferred a short and simple one, and Tommy Lee decided to express his happiness about getting the chance to touch ‘hearts and many other body parts’ of many people around the world.
Here is what Nikki Sixx said about Mötley Crüe’s 40th birthday:
“40 years ago today in 1981 we started Mötley Crüe outta Hollywood California. I am beyond grateful to have done this journey with my brothers Vince Neil, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee. The places we’ve traveled to around the world together, the songs we’ve written, the ÖVER the top live shows, and of course 4 generations of fans. Wherever I may be in the world when a possible non-rock fan asks me ‘Are you in a band?’ and I tell them MÖTLEY CRÜE, they always light up and say ‘Oh, I know your music.’ Beyond everything else, those words mean the most. The SONGS. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my brothers and to all the fans. And to so many many people along the way that kept this old warhorse rocking. 🎂 MORE TO COME…”
This is what Tommy Lee said in his caption:
“Happy 40th my dudes…. what a fucking ride hey!?! Like a rollercoaster, we have been up, down, and all around this damn world touching hearts and many other body parts hahaha of people all around the globe! Cheers to touching more!!!”
Here’s what Vince Neil wrote under his post:
“Happy Birthday to my brothers! 40 years! A lifetime of memories!”
