Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante spoke in an interview with and revealed his thoughts on Rami Malek’s performance as Freddie Mercury in Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ movie.

Interviewer said ‘Being a huge Queen fan, have you yet seen the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ movie yet?’ and Charlie Benante responded:

“Yes, I have seen it and I really enjoyed it. There were a few things that were a little off for me. Being a huge Queen fan myself, it was kind of obvious to me.

I understand why they did it the way they did, for the sake of the movie as some things are going to get lost here and there to keep it within the two or so hours, or whoever long it is and that’s understandable.

On Rami Malek’s performance, he said:

Overall, I really enjoyed Rami’s (Malek) performance, who plays Freddie Mercury. It was obvious that he had really studied just about everything that Mercury did and he nailed it.

He clearly did his homework. You will find yourself being lost in that movie and afterwards being super-charged about Queen.”

He also revealed the most important album of his life and said:

“Wow! That’s so hard. There are literally so many albums that I can’t live without, but I’d have to say, Led Zeppelin, ‘4’, (1971) that album is outstanding on so many levels.”
