One of the biggest thrash metal bands in the world, Anthrax‘s lead guitarist Jonathan Donais recently revealed that the band is currently working on a new album.
Anthrax has released 11 albums throughout its career, which spans over four decades. With those albums, they gained a huge audience in the metal scene and became one of the main representatives of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth.
Their most recent album, ‘For All Kings,’ was released in 2016, almost five years ago. A year after that, the band stated that they started working on another album to be released in 2017. The band was busy with touring at that time, and it kept getting rescheduled.
In 2020, Anthrax members expressed their reluctance to release an album since they will not be able to promote it with a tour, hinting at the postponement of the release date to 2022.
Recently, the band’s guitarist Jonathan Donais revealed that they are currently working on new music together. He stated that he is not involved in the songwriting process, and he hasn’t heard any of the songs yet. Donais expressed that he is very nervous to listen to what his bandmates are coming up with, and he cannot wait.
Here is how he revealed their new album efforts:
“I haven’t heard any music yet, so I couldn’t tell you. But I know they recently got together — those guys recently got together — and were working on it. I’m anxious to hear it. I can’t wait to hear it.”
Donais joined Anthrax in 2013 to replace Rob Caggiano and contributed to only one of their albums, the most recent one. He let the band, who have collaborated for 40 years, work among each other on the album as they already know what to do. He didn’t want to interfere in their system.
