Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward spoke in a recent interview with Metro and talked about his relationship with the band members.
Even though Black Sabbath is one of the biggest metal bands in history, they decided to disband back in 2017. However, the idea of reuniting was always a topic of discussion between the band members.
In the conversation, Bill revealed that he is in touch with both Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi right now and pointed out that they are all family to him, and he still loves them. Furthermore, the drummer mentioned that the possibility of a reunion still exists for Black Sabbath and said that he has been writing new songs for a while now.
Bill admitted that he is hoping to record a new studio album with the band. Even though Bill hasn’t talked about this idea with neither Tommy nor Ozzy, he discussed it with a couple of people in management.
While Ward said he is pretty open-minded about creating a new record with Black Sabbath, he also noted that they could arrange safety perimeters around the studio to protect themselves from the COVID-19.
“I’m in contact with the guys. I talked to Ozzy two nights ago. A lot of things have crossed between us and there’s new boundaries that I’ve had to build, but I don’t think any less of them. I’ve been working with Tony since 1964 when I was 16 years old. They’re my brothers and I love them.
As far as I’m concerned, the book’s never closed with Sabbath! I’m writing like a demon, I’m living life. My biggest contention has been ‘let’s make another album’. Nothing live necessarily, because I’m looking at what I can realistically do.
The way I play the drums, it’s becoming tougher as I get older. I haven’t spoken to the guys about it, but I have talked to a couple of people in management about the possibility of making a recording.
Which I can do safely, even with Covid around. I can lay track at my studio in Los Angeles. I’m very open-minded about doing something like that.”
Later in the conversation, Bill also talked about his relationship with the Black Sabbath members and said that they were all very close with each other and went through lots of problems as close friends.
