Former Blink-182 co-lead vocalist and Angels & Airwaves frontman Tom DeLonge gave an interview to Guitar World and shared some details about the new release ‘Lifeforms.’ In the interview, he highlighted that he managed to play pop-punk songs thanks to masturbating.

As you may recall, Angels & Airwaves released their latest fifth studio album entitled ‘The Dream Walker’ on December 9, 2014. After the release, the album received quite positive reviews from music critics. However, the band hasn’t released anything since then.

Exciting their fans, Angels & Airwaves recently announced that they have been working on their long-awaited sixth album named ‘Lifeforms,’ which they will release on September 24, 2021. During an interview on Guitar World, DeLonge expressed his feelings about the album and stated that it has been a great collaboration.

In addition, DeLonge emphasized that although many people underestimate it, playing pop-punk songs is actually quite difficult. Following that, the musician shared the secret formula behind his success in playing fast: masturbating a lot.

Tom DeLonge talked about the upcoming album in the interview, saying:

“We were really trying, you know. It was a big collaboration and a long effort to get here, but I think we have a really diverse palette on this album. I’m excited for people to hear it… it’s a very different album for our band. All I’m really after right now is sounding more unpredictable!”

Commenting on playing the guitar fast, he added:

“Playing fast is not easy. Especially doing it well and doing it for hours. Do you want to know the secret? It’s all about masturbating. That’s the only way to do it, and if you don’t masturbate, you can’t play punk rock.”

It appears that Tom DeLonge has discovered both a peculiar and self-pleasing way to develop his guitar playing skills rather than practicing more.
