Queen guitarist Brian May had a recent interview with SiriusXM Entertainment and revealed his real thoughts on Joe Elliott and Def Leppard.

Brian said that Def Leppard was always like a family to him and they’ve done lots of stuff for each other and with each other.

Here is his statement:

“I would hate it if anyone else had done it rather than me, because they are family to me and have been for a long time. I love them dearly.

I know a lot about them, because we spent a lot of time together. They’ve done stuff for us – particularly with Joe Elliott. I go back, and we’ve done all kinds of stuff for each other and with each other. We’re kind of like brothers, I suppose. So, yeah, I had to do it – I had to be here.”

Today Brian May shared a rare photo with Joe Elliott of Def Leppard and wrote that:

Tonight – guesting with some old friends -Mott the Hoople ! Left to right – Ian Hunter (Mott singer), Joe Elliott (Def Leppard singer), Stan Tippins (who was tour manager for Mott, back in the day, and always sang the chorus to All the Young Dudes.

Not many people know that he was also the original singer of the band. Here we are singing ‘All the Young Dudes’. Also we played one of the greatest rock anthems ever – ‘All the Way from Memphis’. At the Shepherds Bush Empire. Thanks@ivy_gf Bri.”
