Bruce Dickinson spoke in a recent interview with Kerrang! Magazine and talked about Iron Maiden’s new music video of ‘The Writing On The Wall.’
The last time Iron Maiden released a record was back in 2015, ‘The Book Of Souls,’ and they have been touring since then. However, the tours and events got canceled following the increasing Covid-19 cases all around the world since the beginning of 2020.
Some of the bands decided to turn this tough period into an opportunity and started to work on and release new records, songs, and music videos. Thankfully, Iron Maiden has recently joined the productivity trend.
About ten days ago, Iron Maiden pleased their followers by releasing a new song after six years, ‘The Writing On The Wall,’ and announced afterward that they will also release a new album in the near future, named ‘Senjutsu.’
During the conversation, Bruce Dickinson revealed that they were actually inspired by Rammstein’s tremendous music video, ‘Deutschland,’ which was released two years ago along with their untitled seventh studio album.
As Bruce said, he was astonished by the work that Rammstein did in the video and pointed out that he wanted to make an impact on the community as the German band did with their Deutschland single.
Bruce Dickinson talked about their new single to Kerrang! magazine:
“I said to Rod, ’Have you seen the video for Deutschland by Rammstein? That, to me, is a groundbreaking video. That’s astonishing. Now, I’m not suggesting we do that, because we’re not Rammstein. But think of what we could do that would have the equivalent impact for us.’
So, I wrote storyboard for the vid, tweaked it a little bit, and gave it a happy ending. Well, kind of a happy ending – Adam and Eve start again, but with Eddie going, ’I’ll still get you in the end.'”
Later in the conversation, Bruce Dickinson also revealed that only himself and their guitarist Steve Harris heard the mixed and finished version of their seventeenth studio album.
