Iron Maiden lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson talked about his last solo album during his recent interview with Loudwire and gave some important details about his upcoming solo record.
Bruce Dickinson released his latest and sixth solo studio album entitled ‘Tyranny of Souls’ on May 23, 2005. The singer collaborated with Tribe of Gypsies’ Roy Z, who served as the lyricist and guitarist on the album. Some of its tracks, ‘Mars Within,’ ‘Abduction,’ and ‘Soul Intruders,’ hit the charts and were appreciated by fans and critics.
In addition, the album was completed when Dickinson was on tour with Iron Maiden, so it can be said that Roy Z made significant contributions to it. In his interview, Dickinson revealed that he has written some materials for his next solo album, which his fans have been waiting for a long time.
The Iron Maiden frontman stated that after the end of his An Evening With Bruce Dickinson show, he will have some time to write and compose new tracks for the record. Dickinson said his upcoming solo album will be completed when he is on the road, just like he and Roy Z did in ‘Tyranny of Souls.’
In Dickinson’s words, he said:
“When I get to the end of the one-man show at the end of March, I’ve got about three weeks pulling my feels somewhere — I might lie down in a darkened room for a couple of days and recover from the tour and then put my singing head-on and go and have a chat with Roy.
We’ve already got a bunch of material — demos and everything — but we need to organize it a bit more properly and be a bit more serious about it. We have to maybe write a few more tunes and then basically leave it down to Roy. He can go off and start doing backing tracks and things like that.
Obviously, I’m going to be going out on tour with Maiden next year, but we made ‘Tyranny of Souls’ that way. ‘Tyranny of Souls’ was done kind of remotely — I wasn’t physically present when some of the backing tracks were done, but he sent me the backtracks, and I listened to them, and some of them, I wrote the words to the backtracks. Mixing and matching like that sometimes get great results.”
For those of you who may not know, Bruce Dickison’s 2022 An Evening With Bruce Dickinson show featuring storytelling, song performances, and question and answer sessions will start on January 17 in Fort Lauderdale and end on March 30 in Ontario.
