Iron Maiden members Bruce Dickinson, Adrian Smith, and Nicko McBrain recently gave an interview to Loudersound in which they reflected on their new album. Dickinson said that all the band members are fully concentrated on their new album and are very excited to be back on the stage.
As one of the most outstanding bands in the history of metal music, Iron Maiden made their debut with their eponymous album in 1980, and they have released seventeen studio albums to this day. They have a huge devoted fanbase that cannot wait to see the band live again.
Their latest album, ‘Senjutsu,’ was released on September 3, 2021, after a six-year break, as ‘The Book of Souls’ had dropped in 2015. ‘Senjutsu’ made its way up to No. 1 in the charts of 23 countries, and it mostly received positive comments from both fans and critics.
In the interview, all three Iron Maiden members reflected their thoughts on the new album and said they are generally quite content and satisfied with it. Bruce Dickinson explained that every song is a potential fan favorite because it might just be one of their best works.
He admitted that they have changed over the years, which can be a challenge for them on the stage, but they are still very excited and like being challenged. Dickinson stressed that they are still the same rockers at heart and exclaimed that ‘no one is mellowing with age.’
Here is how Dickinson explained their excitement and commitment:
“When they hear this album, people are going to go: ‘Fuck me!’ Every song is Maiden at the top of our game. Every song could be a live favorite. We haven’t played a Maiden album from start to finish since ‘A Matter Of Life And Death,’ but this album is so good that it could warrant being played in its entirety.
Obviously we haven’t finished the Legacy tour yet, but the thought of taking this album on the road is exciting to all of us. Making it come alive on stage, with all its time changes and shifts of tone and mood, is going to be a challenge.
But if I didn’t relish a challenge, I wouldn’t have joined this band in the first place. No one is mellowing with age. We’re all committed to this, and taking on the world again after everything being on pause is going to be one hell of an adventure. We look forward to seeing you there.”
