Speaking in a recent interview with SceneFour, Lamb of God Drummer Chris Adler spoke about his drumming abilities. He said:

“Musically, pretty much everything appeals to me. First of all, it’s a way for me to challenge myself into something new, not necessarily within this genre. For me, that’s always been about kind of expanding my toolkit a little bit.

I’m very self-conscious about my playing. I’m self-taught, never really had any lessons. So really, any opportunity I get that is outside of what I’m used to doing is a way for me to continue to grow.

When your band is doing well, it’s easy to kind of sit around. And I don’t really want to sit around, even though my band is doing well.

I’ve always been very insecure about my playing. It’s not really an attempt to get over that, but there’s a little voice saying, ‘You’re not very good, you should be working on that.'”
