Audioslave and Soundgarden’s late frontman Chris Cornell‘s wife Vicky Cornell posted a video on Instagram showing Chris’ cover of Guns N’ Roses song ‘Patience‘ and thanked the band for honoring him in their live shows.

Three years ago, the iconic Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell sadly passed away at the age of 52 leaving his devastated family and fans behind. Cornell had been suffering from depression for a long time. After his performance at the Fox Theatre, Chris was found dead in a hotel room on May 18, 2017. Later, his death revealed as suicide by hanging himself.

Two days ago, his family and fans remembered Chris Cornell on his 56th birthday and shared their best memories with the late star. Chris’s daughter Lily Cornell Silver announced that she started an initiative to help out those who suffer from depression.

Recently on Chris Cornell’s Instagram account, his wife Vicky shared a video of Chris’s cover of Guns N’ Roses song ‘Patience‘ with a special video clip that their children put together to honor their dad. On the caption of her post, Vicky mentioned the importance of Guns N’ Roses in their family especially for her daughter Toni, who was a huge GNR fan.

Furthermore, Vick Cornell stated how much she appreciated the gesture of Guns N’ Roses icons Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan continuing to honor Chris in their live shows and thanked them in particular.

Here’s what Vicky Cornell wrote on the caption of her recent post:

One of Chris’s engineers recently reminded me of Chris’s recordings from sessions in 2016, which he still had. “Patience” was one of them. That recording was inspired by our daughter Toni, who was a huge GNR fan and asked her dad to teach her to play it on the guitar. His cover is so hauntingly beautiful; it brought it all back in a rush of bittersweet memories.

His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, stories, and art. A man is not dead while his name is still spoken…and, through his art, an artist’s soul still burns as bright upon all those that look up to him and his memory. Releasing music that was special to Chris keeps a part of him here with us- his heart and his soul. His love and his legacy.”

She continued her letter:

“I want to thank everyone who continues to celebrate and keep Chris alive. A special thank you to Axl, Slash, and Duff for continuing to honor Chris in their live shows. And to all of Chris’s fans, thank you for holding him in your hearts and always sharing your love for Chris with us. I want to thank our children too; for you are a reflection of your father, both his strength and his kindness (and helping to put together this video he’d be so proud)!

The memory of your smile still makes my heart, broken as it is, beat as fast as the first time we met. We love you Chris, Happy Birthday.”
