Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor talked about Slipknot’s forthcoming studio album during a recent interview with Billy D.
Corey Taylor had been touring just to promote his brand new solo record, ‘CMFT,’ during the ‘CMTour,’ but he had to delay some of the dates because of his positive test result for coronavirus.
About a month ago, Slipknot band members confirmed that they are working on a new studio album, which is hopefully be released this year. However, Corey’s coronavirus diagnosis might push the release date a bit.
As Corey said, he had been doing the vocal recordings between the tours, and there are only three songs left to do right now. Corey pointed out that he was supposed to finish the vocal recordings for the new Slipknot album this week. Unfortunately, his health condition prevented him to do such a thing.
Furthermore, Corey mentioned that the upcoming record is better than their last album, named ‘We Are Not Your Kind,’ and said that there are actually darker and heavier materials in the new one. Besides that, Corey stated that there are some new tones that they have never used before.
Corey Taylor talked about the upcoming record:
“I was actually supposed to finish my vocals this week. I got screwed, man. I actually only have really three songs left to do. I’ve done all the other tracks because I’ve been doing ’em in between tours, just fucking hitting it.
I actually like this one better than the last one. I loved the last one. It’s really good. There’s some darker, heavier shit on it. There are some tunes that are actually really outside the realm of what we’ve done before.
But it all fucking coheses together – it all works together. And there’s some fucking savage heavy shit, which I’m really stoked on. So it’s gonna be rad.”
