Joey Jordison, the former drummer of Slipknot, passed away in July, and the band’s vocalist Corey Taylor recently opened up about how he feels concerning his death. However, Taylor didn’t want to talk about why the drummer departed from the band in 2013 and explained why.

As you may know, Slipknot announced Jordison’s departure from the band in 2013 without giving any reasons. Later in a statement, the drummer revealed that the band thought he was suffering from drug abuse when he was actually suffering from ‘acute transverse myelitis,’ a neurological disorder.

He started showing symptoms in 2010, but his diagnosis came long after. Jordison received medical treatment and recovered from the illness, yet, his family announced on July 2021 that he passed away in his sleep.

It was a tragic moment for his family, his former band, and the rock and roll world. Corey Taylor didn’t speak about it until recently when he expressed his feelings on Sirius XM. However, he confessed that he doesn’t want to talk about the late drummer’s departure in 2013 because it doesn’t matter now that he is not here anymore. The vocalist said that he would instead honor him by talking about his legacy and talents.

Here is why Corey Taylor didn’t want to talk about Jordison’s departure:

“I know a lot of people wonder about the circumstances that led to him not being in the band anymore, and it’s, like, we’re not gonna talk about that, because I’d rather talk about his legacy, which is that he helped create this band that we all have fought to keep out there and keep going. Just the fact that he’s not here now, it’s still, I still can’t believe it.”

The fans were angry with the band for wrongfully firing him in 2013. The reason why Taylor doesn’t want to talk about Jordison’s departure could be tied to his guilt for wrongfully firing him or the wish to protect his former bandmate’s legacy by concealing some of their bad experiences.
