Slayer drummer and co-founder, Dave Lombardo, was the recent interview guest of James Jasta’s ‘The Jasta Show,’ and he opened up on many topics from the road to the night that the crowd disrespected Megadeth members.
Dave Lombardo is one of the most talented drummers of the century, and he released numerous albums with Slayer, Fantomas, Suicidal Tendencies. His latest work is ‘Still Cyco Punk After All These Years’ by Suicidal Tendencies, and it was released on September 7, 2018.
In his last interview with The Jasta Show, Slayer co-founder recalled the 1991 United States leg of Clash of the Titans tour. According to the talented drummer, while Megadeth was the opener of the gig, the audience disrespected Dave Mustaine and the other band members by throwing sod, clumps of grass, and dirt at them.
Here is what Lombardo said:
“I remember Megadeth getting it pretty bad at one of the shows. It was sad because I don’t think the crowd or the fans should do that. It was grass, it was an outdoor venue, Clash of the Titans, and I remember people throwing sod, clumps of grass, and dirt up on stage at Megadeth – they got it pretty bad.”
“There were a couple of times where Dave Mustaine got it – or Megadeth got it pretty bad. You don’t want to see your colleagues go through that kind of shit, it’s just not cool.
We’re there, they entertain you and we’re not there to create any kind of war or any kind of animosity towards opening bands. But it is what it is, people are doing what they want.”
