Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine recently joined an interview with Loudwire and said that the new Megadeth album would most likely arrive this summer. He also shared the possible release date, but some changes may still be.
Megadeth released their latest studio album, ‘Dystopia,’ on January 22, 2016, and it has now been six years that they didn’t release any new original material. The thrashers completed the entire album’s recording process in June 2020, but unfortunately, the release of the album was interrupted by several issues and delayed a few times.
As you know, the band’s bassist David Ellefson had been fired from the band due to alleged sexual misconduct, but he had already recorded the basses for the new album. The band decided to re-record his parts, so the recording and producing sessions took more time than expected. The band also had other issues with the record company about the distribution and production process, which also delayed the album’s release.
Despite all the mishaps, the long-awaited Megadeth album called ‘The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!’ seems to be coming soon, as Dave Mustaine revealed during the interview. Mustaine explained that the latest scheduled date for the new album is July 8, 2022. However, he stressed that the distribution process became especially difficult for the record companies after the pandemic, so he is not sure how the process will continue from now on.
When asked about the release date of the new Megadeth album, Dave Mustaine replied:
“I sure hope so. I think it’s July 8. I think that was the latest we heard for a release date. I think it could possibly be scooted forward a little bit, but I think that would actually be worse than if it stayed where it was at. You need every little bit of time to let people get everything all set up with all this COVID sh*t. It’s been really difficult to ship anything, let alone records.”
