The son of Megadeth co-founder and frontman Dave Mustaine, Justis Mustaine has taken Instagram with a quite exciting update about the upcoming album of the band while admitting he has never seen his father like this.

As the legendary heavy metal band, Megadeth, is getting ready to release their sixteenth studio album, the artist manager, Justis Mustaine, has shared his observations about Dave Mustaine‘s extreme devotion to his work even receiving treatment for cancer in 2019.

As you may know, Mustaine was diagnosed with throat cancer on June 17, 2019. The great musician has undergone a treatment process in the middle of the band’s album and tour plans. Fortunately, on January 31, 2020, during a Megadeth concert, he announced that he was now one hundred percent cancer-free.

Lately, the legend’s son has revealed the details about this process and stunned Dave’s fans via Instagram. Justis said, with this latest record, he has never seen his father pushing things so far. He added Dave started it before he was diagnosed with cancer, worked on it through the treatments, and finished it as he is cured and in remission.

Justis also remarked that the passion is still there for Dave Mustaine while explaining these are among some of the heaviest, most technical, and melodic songs he has heard in quite some time.

As you might recall, on November 6, 2018, Mustaine shared a video on his Instagram teasing a track from the band’s sixteenth album, which was originally set for release in 2019. Megadeth announced on May 10, 2019, that they had entered a studio in Franklin, Tennessee to begin pre-production of the album.

Despite Mustaine’s illness, the band vowed to continue working on their new album. Megadeth re-entered the studio in Nashville in mid-2020 to resume recording their new album, which is tentatively planned for release in 2021.

On August 21, 2019, it was announced that the band would embark on their first tour since Mustaine’s illness. To support their new album, the band will tour the US in the summer of 2021 with Lamb of God, Trivium, and In Flames.

Here’s what Justis Mustaine said in his latest Instagram post:

“Forging metal since ‘83. I’m among some of the few people that get to listen to these new records as they are being created. It’s been really cool to see how things change and songs take on their shape over the course of writing a record.

You could say I feel pretty close since I’m there as it’s happening. With this latest record I have never seen him push things so far. Starting it before he was diagnosed with cancer, working on it through the treatments, and finishing it as he is cured and in remission.

These are again among some of the heaviest, most technical and melodic songs I have heard in quite some time. Every album of his during a difficult time has always proven to be a great one.

The passion is still there. With the new combination of Kiko and Dirk these guys have brought a lot of great ideas and creativity on the new songs. Can’t wait for you guys to hear this one. 🤘”
