David Crosby, the founding member and co-lead vocalist of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, shared multiple posts on Twitter revealing his admiration for Dire Straits lead guitarist and singer Mark Knopfler.
As you may know, David Crosby is extremely vocal when it comes to other musicians and bands on his official Twitter page. He is known for unapologetically honest about others whether his opinion is positive or not.
While Crosby’s negative statements on Twitter get the highlight, there are also plenty of praising if there is an artist or band brought up by a fan. Recently, a fan shared a tweet stating that while he was playing violin for Mark Knopfler, he came across David Crosby. David replied to his fan expressing his admiration for Knopfler by adding that he must be a lucky guy to be in Mark’s band.
Here is what the fan said:
“I walked past you & said hi in the hallway backstage at The Santa Barbara Bowl.. ! I was playing the fiddle in Mark Knopfler Band. I hope all is well with you. Best. John.”
Here’s how Crosby replied:
“You are a lucky guy ….great band …you must be very effing good he can get anyone… I admire him intensely… That was a fine show.”
Although his fans already knew that Crosby is a huge fan of Mark Knopfler, he expresses his admiration whenever he gets the chance. Another fan shared a post on Twitter praising Knopfler’s talent when it comes to guitars and called him a terrific guitarist. Crosby replied to his fan by revealing that Knopfler played lead on Crosby’s song ‘What’s Broken’ and he was wishing to return the favor.
Here is what the fan said:
“Mark Knopfler is so talented. A terrific guitarist. So melodic. I have a feeling the two of you would work well together.”
Here is what Crosby said:
“Well he did most kindly play lead on What’s Broken but I am still hoping to return the favor with some harmony.”
