Megadeth bassist David Ellefson made a new interview with ‘Rocking With Jam Man’ this week and revealed how he rebuilt his wicked relationship with Dave Mustaine after he decided to sue him due to the royalty payment.

As you might already remember, back in 2004, Ellefson sued Dave Mustaine for $18.5 million after they had a couple of disagreements following the release of the tenth studio album of Megadeth, ‘The System Has Failed.’ However, Ellefson lost the lawsuit and had to pay a bunch of fee on top of that.

In his latest interview with ‘Rocking With Jam Man,‘ Dave shared his gratitude for settling things up with Dave and stated that there is genuine brotherly love between him and Mustaine.

Here is what Ellefson said:

“I think Dave and I are both very thankful, we’re very grateful that we were able to make amends and just overcome that. I think between Dave and me, there is genuine brotherly love between us, just as brothers. In a way, maybe we’re kind of brothers we didn’t have ourselves.”

He continued:

“Dave grew up with sisters. I did have an older brother, but he stayed behind to run the farm, and when I moved out to L.A., Dave kind of became an older brother to me to help me kind of learn the streets and learn how to live in L.A.

So Dave and I share a lot of history. Before wives, families, anything that we have in our lives today, there was me and Dave; we were before all of that. We can always go back to that.”

At the end of 2020, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine had an interview with Fox Sports 910’s ‘Freak Nation’ and revealed when and how he decided to forgive Ellefson. According to the Megadeth legend, after his flight stopped in Ellefson’s hometown, Phoneix, he called David to offer to have dinner.

Here is the rest of the story by Dave:

“So we went out. The first thing he said was, ‘I wanna tell you, it was the stupidest thing I ever did suing you, and I wanna apologize.’ And I looked at him and I waited a beat, and I said, ‘Dave, I forgive you. I completely forgive you. I love you.‘ And it was over like that.”
