Twisted Sister icon Dee Snider recently responded to a fan who considered that ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ is an underrated song. Dee stated that there is no one in the world who doesn’t know the song.

Twisted Sister released the iconic song ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ in 1984 which was followed by their album ‘Stay Hungry.’ The band reached an immense success with the song, attracting attention with its rebellious lyrics, catchy sound, and even creating controversy after years of its release.

The song was used in so many outlets from politics to movies and showed the world the power of rebellion. The most notable usage of the song was in Paul Ryan’s 2012 vice-presidential campaign, however, the band’s frontman Dee Snider asked him not to use the music anymore.

Snider later gave permission to the former president of America, Donald Trump, because they were friends, but he also blocked him from using it after a while as he didn’t agree with his political opinions. On television, the song was featured in many movies and TV shows such as ‘Person of Interest,’ ‘Young Sheldon,’ ‘Chuck,’ ‘Gung Ho,’ ‘Iron Eagle,’ ‘Corky Romano,’ ‘Max Keeble’s Big Move,’ and ‘Ready Player One.’

‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ was used in so many different areas that it would be a misassumption to think that it wasn’t noticed or that it was underappreciated. However, Eric Schmitt, 43rd Attorney General of Missouri, named it as an underrated song on Twitter recently, which caught Snider’s attention. Dee mentioned how absurd it was to think that the song was underrated as he also stated that it is one of the greatest songs of rebellion in history.

Here is what Schmitt stated in his tweet:

Underrated classic for the times we live in — Dee Snider and Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It.’ Discuss amongst yourselves”

Another fan tagged Dee Snider to bring his attention by tweeting:

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure Dee Snider disagrees with you on this.”

Here is Snider’s reply:

“‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ is one of the most licensed songs of the ’80s and considered by most to be one of the greatest songs of rebellion in history. There is virtually no one in the world who doesn’t know this song (they may not know who played it). Underrated, funny.”

The Twisted Sister frontman also added that even though there might be people who don’t know Twisted Sister as a band, there isn’t anyone in the world who never heard the song.
