Dee Snider, the lead singer, and songwriter of Twisted Sister shared a picture on stage with his deceased bandmate, A.J. Pero, and shared an emotional farewell message for Pero on his official Instagram page.

A.J. Pero has been working as the drummer of the Twisted Sister since April 1982. Though he left the band in 1986, he participated in the band’s 1997 reunion and continued to perform with them until his death.

Pero died on the tour bus on March 20, 2015, his bandmates at the time, tried to wake him up but failed. He was taken to the hospital where he unfortunately declared dead from a heart attack.

Twisted Sister‘s frontman Dee Snider, shared an emotional farewell message to his former bandmate on his official Instagram page on his birthday. Snider shared a picture from their last performance together and stated he Pero is missed and loved.

Here is what Snider said for Pero:

“Today is The Late AJ Pero’s birthday. This shot is from our last tour together. Walking off stage victorious we had no idea it was the end. Nor should we.

But it would have been nice to have stood out there a little longer and savored the moment together. Love and miss you my sister. RIP.”
