Twisted Sister‘s iconic frontman Dee Snider responded to a question from a fan wondering about his relationship with Frank Zappa and revealed a memory his father had with Frank’s children, Moon Unit and Dweezil, back when they were fighting against PMRC.

As you might recall, in 1985, the rock musicians Dee Snider, John Denver, and Frank Zappa testified against censorship and the proposed warning system suggested by the Parents Music Resource Center. The organization wanted to enact a rating system for music, which they identified as ‘porn rock.’

Recently on Twitter, Dee Snider received a question from a fan asking about his relationship with the legendary vocalist Frank Zappa. The fan named Ed Marcus wanted to know whether Frank and Dee had a personal relationship or it was solely business-related.

Here’s the fan’s question about the relationship between Dee Snider and Frank Zappa:

“I’m a fan of both you & Frank Zappa. Did he ever compliment Twisted Sister on the music? Did you guys shoot the breeze – or was it strictly the business at hand?”

As a response, Dee Snider revealed a rare memory he had with Zappa to explain better the friendship that they had. Apparently, during the time of their battle against PMRC, Snider’s father watched Frank’s children, Moon Unit and Dweezil, who were also the fans of Twisted Sister.

However, Dee mentioned that even though his father never forgets the day he looked after Frank Zappa’s kids, he remembers the names all wrong and calls them ‘Fran Zipper’s kids Moon Weezil and Unit.’

“He asked if his young children could come in and meet me. Said they were fans. I said, of course, and Moon Unit and Dweezil were brought back to say hi. My dad watched Frank’s kids while he testified. He still talks about how he watched ‘Fran Zipper’s kids Moon Weezil and Unit!‘”
