Twister Sister’s Dee Snider recently talked about his feelings about various rockstars he met during his career. He stated how much he admired Alice Cooper and how big of an inspiration he is to him. However, Snider also mentioned the one thing that he doesn’t like about the Godfather of Shock Rock.

Snider is one of the most acknowledged vocalists in the metal scene. He was ranked No. 83 in Hit Parader’s list of 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time and has proved his vocal capabilities throughout his career with Twisted Sister and as a solo musician. The singer has also been involved in politics and defended rock and roll in 1985 against the PMRC censorship.

During his recent interview, Dee Snider talked about those who have influenced him during his life. The singer stated that Alice Cooper has been a huge inspiration, although he made fun of Dee for putting on makeup for a photoshoot. The paradox lies in the detail that Snider was influenced by Alice Cooper.

Here is how he told the story:

“Alice Cooper is a great hero of mine. Early on in my career, I had been so vocal about being inspired by Alice. He actually came to see Twisted Sister in concert. First, he sent me a dozen black roses and a personal note. Later I remember doing a photoshoot backstage, putting on my makeup, and Alice standing there and making fun of me. I said, ‘Are you fucking kidding me? I’m doing this because of you! You’re busting my balls because I’m putting on makeup? C’mon, man!'”

The rockstars seem to have a goofy relationship, and this became apparent when Snider criticized Cooper for playing golf. He indicated that he couldn’t fit golf with Alice Cooper because golf is not ‘metal.’ The singer would have been more content if Cooper had played with ‘studded leather’ golf club covers.

Here is how he criticized Cooper for playing golf:

“To be honest, I don’t approve of Alice playing golf. Golf, to me, is not metal. Once I told him, ‘Can’t you at least get some studded-leather golf club covers?’ But Alice just piddled off to do his golf game because the guy is serious about golf.”

Snider seems disappointed with Cooper as he takes golf very seriously. However, the rock/metal industry has seen many hardcore rockstars do something calmer to relax in their free time. Therefore, it is not that much of a shock to see how Cooper spends his time outside of rock and roll.
