Original Dire Straits guitarist and vocalist, Mark Knopfler, took his verified Instagram account today to announce that he will donate his ‘Fender Signature Stratocaster’ guitar to a foundation that aims to help the homeless people in London.
According to the official statement on the Crowdfund page of the Streets of London, the ‘Come On Home’ campaign aims to raise money to provide vital help for homeless people in the capital of the United Kingdom.
While Mark will donate his signed 2011 Fender Signature Stratocaster to this prize draw fundraising campaign, he is not the only star who supported the funding. In the near future and past, the artists including James Blunt, Duran Duran, Foals, Craig David, Laura Marling, and Eric Clapton gave away their memorials goodies for the campaign.
As you may check out the fundraiser page of the campaign, fans can donate £5 to get one prize draw entry and £12 to get three draw entries. While we are writing the article, the campaign managed to gather £3,046 so far and the target price is £10,000. The funding will be ended on 25th June 2021 at 11:59 pm.
Here is how Mark announced the fundraiser:
“Mark has donated a signed 2011 Fender Signature Stratocaster in aid of the Streets of London’s ‘Come On Home’ fundraiser. People experiencing homelessness are some of the most vulnerable and marginalized in our society, and the last year has been a particularly tough time for them.
Centers across London are doing all they can to keep providing support despite being hard-hit by a loss of funding. By entering this special prize draw you will help raise vital funds to support homeless people.
Tickets are £5 per entry and can be purchased until Friday 25th June, worldwide. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the link in bio.”
