The co-founder and frontman of Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and showed his support for a charity project, which Brian May had also promoted.
As you may recall, last weekend, Queen’s iconic guitarist and co-founder Brian May had shown his support for a charity project named ‘Small Steps Project.’ This project aims to provide food, clothing, medical care, and guidance in education to kids who survive by picking rubbish in dumpsters.
As the project’s motto is ‘If we all take a small step we can create real solutions,’ Brian May had decided to auction his worn shoes in order to both raise awareness and money, so as to support this inspiring project.
It looks like Mark Knopfler was inspired by Brian May’s generous contribution as he too decided to donate a pair of his worn autographed shoes to the ‘Small Steps Project’ Celebrity Shoe Auction.
Mark Knopfler’s Instagram post was liked by thousands and he received a lot of messages and comments supporting his contribution to such an important project. In the caption of his Instagram post, Knopfler gave details about the project’s aims and goals, while asking his fans and followers to check the link in his bio to find out more about the project and how they can contribute.
Mark Knopfler used his platform and audience in order to raise awareness for such an important cause. Even such a simple action like that will probably increase the number of donations and support towards the ‘Small Steps Project.’ It is definitely inspiring to see rockstars like Mark Knopfler and Brian May make an effort to give back and help the less fortunate.
Here is Mark Knopfler said in the caption of his Instagram post:
“Mark has donated a pair of autographed shoes to the ‘Small Steps Project’ Celebrity Shoe Auction, taking place over 13 – 22 November. This will raise funds for their amazing work delivering shoes, hygiene kits, and emergency aid to protect children living in rubbish dump environments around the world.
Head to the link in bio to find out more and place a bid.”
