Dire Straits guitarist and currently a solo artist Mark Knopfler shared his Teisco TG-64 electric guitar on his official Instagram page announcing that it’s up for auction in aid of NITO while revealing that he never had the opportunity to give the guitar a chance.

NITO, The National Independent Talent Organization, is a nonprofit foundation formed by talent agencies and management companies to promote the welfare, prosperity of its members and their artists. The foundation currently raises awareness in order to support live music during COVID-19 since the lockdowns and restrictions affected the music industry unimaginably.

The foundation’s first fundraising initiative is a guitar and stringed instrument auction in order to help to ensure the survival of the small businesses and independent live music community.

For the auction, Mark Knopfler revealed that he will be donating his Teisco TG-64 electric guitar with a post he shared on his official Instagram page. In addition to this, Knopfler also stated that he bought the guitar with high hopes, however, due to his tours he never gave the guitar a chance to discover.

Here is what Mark Knopfler stated in the caption of his post:

“Mark’s Teisco TG-64 electric guitar is up for auction in aid of NITO.

‘I felt I could discover things when I bought this classic Teisco TG-64 but diversions came up: European and US tours, recording and traveling, and I never gave it the chance it deserves. It’s perfectly original and in great shape, so I’m certain it has a soulful future with a guitar junkie somewhere.’ – MK”
