Brian May excited his fans by revealing that they are considering a sequel for Queen’s biopic, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ on an Instagram live video.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a biographical film about Freddie Mercury and his life with Queen. Starring Rami Malek, the film received many positive reviews from critics and Mercury’s fans. The creation of the film was a complicated one. Because this was an important issue for the Queen members, the film had to be perfect. Before Rami Malek, Sacha Baron Cohen was hired to play Mercury but then quit due to some differences with the producers.
A lot of effort and time was spent on the film, but eventually, their work was highly rewarded. The film won Best Motion Picture in the Drama genre at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, and Rami Malek received an Oscar for Best Actor. It was a huge production that was loved by Queen fans. Even the members of Queen also stated countless times how much they loved the film and thought it was as accurate as it could be.
Because of the film’s success, the fans desired a sequel to see more of Freddie Mercury. However, the band members didn’t look positively at a sequel. One of the reasons was that they thought it would be difficult to top the first film, and it would be redundant to try to do so.
Brian May also stated that the sequel would be more about Mercury and his experience with the illness instead of their musical journey. He also said that they weren’t ready for a non-uplifting film. However, recently Brian revealed that they are considering some ideas for a sequel.
Here is what he said in his live video:
“We are looking at it. Yeah, we have been looking at ideas. It’s going to be hard to follow that one as none of us could have predicted how massive that was going to be. We put a lot of heart and soul into making it, and no one could have predicted it as it was bigger than ‘Gone With The Wind.’But yes, we are thinking maybe it could happen, but it would have to be a great script. It’s going to take a while to figure that out.”
Although he stated that they would have to come up with a great script, which could take a while, he planted the seeds of hope into the heads of his fans, who expect to hear more about it soon. May started his live show called Bri-TV on Instagram recently, and day after day, he is revealing a lot of information about himself and the band.
