Former Dream Theater drummer, Mike Portnoy has shared a really funny photo meme of Star Wars on his verified and official Instagram account.
In that banner, Mike Portnoy’s face seen on the face of a major actor from the movie. The movie’s name is changed as ‘Progue One – A Prog Wars Story’ on the banner.
Here’s the statement of Mike Portnoy:
“Sharing this funny Star Wars/Prog parody I’ve been seeing posted around the net…in celebration of going to see #theriseofskywalker tonight!
I was terribly disappointed with a lot of aspects of Ep VIII, so I’m hoping I like this one better as I’ve been waiting 42 years for it!!! #maytheforcebewithyou.”

Well, here we are…42 years in the making!
I remember reading the Time Magazine Interview with George Lucas in the early 80s around when Empire came out when he revealed that his Star Wars Story was not a trilogy but actually going to be *3 trilogies* that would eventually span 9 episodes!! The concept of that absolutely blew my mind…and I never would’ve pictured sitting here in 2019 at age 52 having just walked out of Episode IX!!
Well, I loved it… 👍
Let me say immediately, it was not perfect…it had its flaws…but as somebody that was very disappointed in Ep 8, I was pleasantly surprised that this film was (mostly) back on track and satisfied (most) of what I was hoping for in this grand finale…
I Loved all of the *holy shit moments*
(this review had a spoiler alert, but I’ll give you one more chance to NOT read…. 😎):
Welcome Back Lando Calrissian! That was a nice surprise
The unbilled cameo of Harrison Ford gave me goosebumps! (And my favorite line of the film for me: “I Know” 😂 such a cool call back for us fans)
Was amazing to be in a packed theater and hear the entire audience gasp at Rey’s family reveal – shades of Empire
Very satisfying to have a final film that had appearances from Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, Chewie, C3PO, R2D2 and (the voice of) Yoda all in it…only missing was Annakin/Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi
These little things that made me smile absolutely overshadowed some of the other moments that were just a little too Disney and just plain unbelievable…
It was a great final ride and I enjoyed it.
I must admit, almost the whole film I was still scratching my head over the title…thinking of so many other titles that could have been. I love that it wasn’t until the final line of the film that it all tied it together!! 👏
OK…so here it is: this may change through the years, but at this moment here’s my final tally:
5, 4, 7, 9, 3, 6, 8, 1, 2
Thank you, George Lucas, for 42 incredible years with these characters 🙏.”
