Guns N’ Roses bassist and co-founder Duff McKagan posted a new video on his official YouTube channel this week and shared an unreleased song named ‘Live By The Gun’ from his teenage Seattle band ‘The Living.’
As his birth name, Michael Andrew McKagan was born in 1964 and he has been called ‘Duff’ by his parents since his childhood. At the age of 15, he formed a punk bund named ‘Vains’ and played bass in the band for a year while playing guitar in a punk band ‘The Living.’ They opened shows for Canadian punk-rock band D.O.A. and Husker Du at the same time.
This week, Duff surprised his fans by sharing a never-released-before track named ‘Live By The Gun’ from his ‘The Living’ days. The song is one of the tracks of the unheard collection of seven songs from the recently released mini-album ‘The Living: 1982′ and it’s now available on many streaming platforms including YouTube.
Here is what the drummer of The Living, Greg Gilmore said about the album:
“The Living was the beginning of all things Seattle for me — a turning point in my life. I joined a band and a community. These guys are still my brothers.
I’ve cherished these recordings since the days we made them. This record is a fantastic document of a loaded moment. I love it.”
