Eddie Van Halen‘s son and the current bassist of Van Halen, Wolfgang has announced the devastating death of his father and revealed the reason with a statement on Twitter.
As you might remember, Van Halen‘s co-founder and guitarist Eddie Van Halen had been battling with cancer for a long while. Back in 2000, Eddie was diagnosed with tongue cancer. Afterward, he underwent several treatments and beat cancer in 2002. However, last year, it was discovered that Eddie has been traveling to Europe as a part of his throat cancer treatment.
Recently, his son Wolfgang Van Halen shared a statement on Twitter and announced his father, Eddie Van Halen, has sadly passed away. In his statement, Wolf revealed Eddie died after a long battle with throat cancer.
Here’s how Wolfgang announced the death of Eddie Van Halen:
“I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning.
He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift.
My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss.
I love you so much, Pop.“
