Ruth Clapton, the daughter of one of the most influential and important guitarists of all time, Eric Clapton, shared a post on her official Twitter page about the Greater Manchester Lockdown and stated that the financial support is unbelievable and shocking.

Greater Manchester has been under a local lockdown since the end of July due to coronavirus. However, after the latest announcement on Tuesday by the Prime Minister, Greater Manchester will move into Tier 3 of the government’s new three-tier local lockdown system. The country is split into either Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3, depending on the severity of the virus in that region as of 14 October.

While lockdown seems necessary due to rising COVID-19 cases recently, this lockdown left every local business owner with a need for financial support since they cannot work for an ambiguous time.

Journalist Dave Haslam shared a post on his official Twitter page and revealed the government’s financial support system for those in need during the Manchester Lockdown. It seems like the amount of money will not be enough since it is only £7.86 per person.

Here is what Haslam posted:

“Greater Manchester population: 2.8m

Money on offer: £22m

£/person: £7.86

Yes – the amount of financial support the Tories are offering us to compensate for the loss of businesses and jobs in a Tier 3 #manchesterlockdown is the equivalent of £7.86 each. Happy Christmas.”

Ruth Clapton reposted this on her official Twitter page and stated that the lack of support from the government to their people is unbelievable and Clapton sounded like she used to hearing incidents like this.

Here is what Clapton said:

“Honestly, nothing shocks me with this government anymore. Nothing. Unbelievable.”
