The co-founder and frontwoman of Evanescence, Amy Lee has shown up with a new outfit which is certainly unorthodox and highly unique for her surprise collaboration with the Wagakki Band.

The iconic vocalist Amy Lee has been teasing her new song, which is full of Asian sounds and signaling a mutual project with the Japanese band, with whom Lee performed together in Osaka in February this year.

Soon after, Amy Lee and the Wagakki Band, whose music mixes traditional Japanese instruments with the rock to create an epic fusion, have released their song ‘Sakura Rising‘ with an extremely creative animated lyric video.

Posted a picture from the photoshoot that was taken for the project with the band a few days ago, Amy has taken Instagram to unveil some details about the extraordinary dress she wore during the shoot.

Lee said that her long time collaborator and friend Masaaki Sato made this kimono for her out of about 5 different vintage kimonos. Calling this piece, ‘Frankenmono,’ Amy added that Sato called his dad Hiromasa, who lives in Matsumoto City, Japan, to source the materials for the project.

She explained that Hiromasa sent the photos of kimonos in the vintage shops and then mailed the ones they chose. Masa took them apart and sewed them back together into one awesome dress. Lee ended her words by thanking Masaaki and Hiromasa for this beautiful work of art.

Here is what Amy Lee said in her latest Instagram post:

“My long time collaborator and friend Masaaki Sato made this kimono for me out of about 5 different vintage kimonos for my performance with Wagakki Band.

He called his dad Hiromasa, who lives in Matsumoto City, Japan, to source the materials for the project by going to vintage shops, sending photos of kimonos and then mailing the ones we chose to Masa in NY.

Masa took them apart and sewed them back together into one awesome ‘Frankenmono!‘ Thank you Masaaki and Hiromasa for this unique and beautiful work of art ❤️”
