Dream Theater’s former drummer, Mike Portnoy, recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and announced that he will share a video with his daughter Melody on his YouTube channel, who beat him at last year‘s The Beatles Name That Tune game.
Mike Portnoy is known for his amazing career as the drummer of Dream Theatre, his numerous side projects, tribute bands, and the supergroup Liquid Tension Experiment he founded in 1997. However, he’s also famous for his humbleness and kindness towards his friends and fans.
During this past year, Mike Portnoy has been posting some personal videos on his YouTube channel, and last year he shared a video with his daughter Melody. They played a game in which they had to name a Beatles song from the moment it started playing. Melody’s performance was amazing and she didn’t even give a chance to her father as she named every song from the first second it started playing.
At the end of the video, Mike said that he’s deeply surprised but also feels proud as he raised her well. However, he also added that he wants a rematch. With his recent Instagram post, Mike Portnoy announced that the rematch he asked for would be filmed exactly one year later.
He posted the rematch video on his YouTube channel just some hours ago, and spoiler alert, guess who won. Mike Portnoy said that he had been studying for the past nine months while in quarantine due to the pandemic and his effort definitely helped him get more points than last year but it’s safe to say that his daughter is unbeatable.
Here’s what Mike Portnoy said in the caption of his Instagram post:
“This was filmed last Christmas exactly one year ago… Melody Portnoy shocked the world when she wiped the floor with me playing The Beatles Name That Tune…
Tonight we filmed THE REMATCH! I’ll be posting it tomorrow, stay tuned!! 👑”
