Mike Portnoy, who is the former drummer of Dream Theater and current member of Sons Of Apollo, paid his tribute to film director, Quentin Tarantino, via his official Instagram account.
The Hateful Eight is a movie made by Tarantino back in 2015, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and many more. The movie tells the story of eight strangers after the American Civil War.
In the post, Mike shared his honest opinion about this iconic movie and pointed out that The Hateful Eight is the most underrated movie that the legendary film director has ever made.
As Mike was praising the beauty of this movie, he also mentioned that this was the third time he watched The Hateful Eight. Furthermore, Mike said that outdoors shots of this movie are some of the best shots of Tarantino’s career.
Here is what Mike Portnoy said:
“Rewatched Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight again last night… 3rd time seeing it and 3rd different version!
Saw the traditional theatrical version opening night in Dec 2015 as well as the 70mm Roadshow version with the overture, intermission, program and additional footage, and now watched the Extended Version exclusively on Netflix which expands the film to 4 free standing 50 min episodes…
While I love everything QT has done, I think this one is underrated… As always, the performances and his dialogue are so great, but some of the widescreen cinematography in this one (especially the outdoor stuff) are some of the most beautiful shots of his career.”
