Former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has posted a new video on his official and verified Instagram account today and recalled one of the most memorable gigs he’s ever played in his 37-years-long career.

As you might already know, Mike was a member of the legendary progressive rock/metal band Dream Theater from 1985 to 2010. However, Mike had announced his departure from the band after 25 years and was replaced by Mike Mangini. According to the many sources, Mike wanted to return to Dream Theater but he was declined by the lawyer of the band.

Today, the iconic drummer has shared one of the unforgettable nights he had with Dream Theater and recalled Dream Theater’s performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York City while they were on 20th Anniversary World Tour. Mike has called that day one of the most memorable shows of his long-time career.

Here is what Mike wrote:

“15 Years ago tonight, April 1st 2006 – I played what I still consider to be one of the most memorable shows of my career: DT at Radio City Music Hall in NYC (aka the live ‘Score’ release) It was the final night of DT’s 20th Anniversary World Tour and we capped it off at one of the most prestigious venues in the World (and were joined by an orchestra for the 2nd half of the show)

To celebrate its 15th Anniversary, I thought it would be fun to revisit this evening & share on my YouTube channel for everybody to enjoy…

This version has this Isolated Drum & MP Vox Audio channel, so you can hear (and watch) exactly what it was like in my world for that amazing evening… Enjoy and Happy 15th Score! XX + XV, MP.”
