Former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has shared a new post on his official Instagram page, revealing what he thinks about Oscar winners 2020.

The 92nd Academy Awards took place on Sunday, February 10 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Mike published a statement to try to guess the names that will win the Oscar award. After the Oscar ceremony, he jumped to Instagram again to show his reaction to Oscar winners.

Here’s what Mike Portnoy said:

“2019 was a tremendous year for the film… here are my predictions for tonight’s Oscars:

• Best Picture: 1917
• Best Director: Sam Mendes (1917)
• Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix (Joker)
• Best Actress: Scarlett Johansson (Marriage Story)
• Best Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood)
• Best Supporting Actress: Laura Dern (Marriage Story)
• Best Cinematography: Roger Deakins (1917)
• Best International Film: Parasite
• Best Original Screenplay: Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood)
• Best Adapted Screenplay: Todd Phillips (Joker).

These are my predictions, but honestly, every one of these categories are completely stacked with worthy winners so it will be hard to argue with any of the results this year…”

In a statement to the comment section, he said:

“MP Oscar after-thoughts for those that give a toss: • While I think Parasite was really good (but overrated IMO), I cant believe Bong Joon Ho won Best Director! 😳

Of this list, he would’ve been my 5th choice!!! That being said, his speech was charming and I loved that he gave Scorsese and Tarantino such tributes! 🙏”

He continued:

“As much as I am a Billie Elish fan, wasn’t very impressed w that rendition of Yesterday. Joaquin Phoenix for President…that speech was amazing! I hope he doesn’t get shit for it (and I’m so glad he won)

Again, while I think Parasite was good…years down the road, this beating 1917 for Best Picture is going to be as ludicrous as Shakespeare In Love beating Saving Private Ryan… 🤦🏻‍♂️ Time to tune into the On Cinema At The Cinema Oscar Special…”
