In a press release, former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson introduced his new band, Dieth, and shared the music video for their first song.

Ellefson left Megadeth in unfortunate circumstances. The former bassist was embroiled in a scandal involving a leaked video of him masturbating with an underage girl, which resulted in him facing grooming charges. This assault scandal was the reason he got kicked out of the band. Although the woman was later revealed to be a consenting adult, the bassist was done with the band.

David Ellefson, former Entombed A.D. guitarist and vocalist Guilherme Miranda, and former Decapitated drummer Michał Łysejko have teamed up to form their new band, Dieth. Their press release made it clear that they wanted to achieve a fresh sound that would distinguish the band from their industry peers. Their first single, ‘In The Hall Of The Hanging Serpents,’ is out now for fans to get a taste of the new band.

Ellefson stated that all three of them had respectable careers in different groups, but they formed Dieth together after closing those chapters. He added that the name figuratively means letting the past die to make room for the next chapter of life to come into spring. Finally, he adds that all three band members have a common desire to begin the new phase of their careers.

David Ellefson’s words on the new band:

“The three of us have all been recognized in our respective bands and careers, but at some point, we had to close the door on those exploits to let something new begin, and now we have found it in Dieth. In fact, the name itself is about dying to one’s past so that something new can spring forth to create the next chapter of life. And that is a connection the three of us hold in common.”
