One of the most popular producers of the community and also former Metallica producer, Bob Rock, was recently interviewed by Gibson TV’s YouTube channel and revealed a never-told-before truth about ‘Enter Sandman.’
As you might already know that Enter Sandman is one of the most-loved tracks of Metallica’s self-titled album (a.k.a Black Album) which was released in 1991.
Bob Rock confessed that when the first time he listened to the song, he didn’t get it at all. The reason why is the lack of lyrics, Bob said.
Here is his statement:
“I remember Lars [Ulrich] saying, ‘Well, “Sandman” is the single,” Rock told Gibson TV recently (via Guitar World). “And I’m going, ‘What?’ To me it was like, I didn’t get it yet.
Because all the lyrics weren’t there. I was thinking ‘Holier Than Thou,’ only because that kind of energy was up-tempo and that kind of works for me. What do I know? It ended up being ‘Sandman’ – obviously a good choice.”
