Joey Jordison’s family announced that former Slipknot drummer has passed away at the age of 46. According to Rolling Stone’s report, Jordison died in his sleep, but the cause of death is unclear.
The family wrote in the press release that:
“We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison, prolific drummer, musician, and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26th, 2021. He was 46.
Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart, and his love for all things family and music.
The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.”
On Instagram, John 5 described his feelings about his death by saying:
“I am crushed to hear about the passing of my friend and former bandmate Joey Jordison. I will miss you my friend R.I.P”
Rob Zombie posted a photo with Jordison and wrote:
“So shocked to hear about the death of our friend and former bandmate Joey. He was a good dude and a monster drummer. We are gonna miss this guy.”
Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian said:
“I’m so sorry to hear about Joey. Sending all my love to his family and friends. Joey was an incredible musician, songwriter, and a great guy. I met Joey in Dec 1999 and had the privilege of getting to jam with him a few times over the years. This pic was from a rehearsal for the Roadrunner 25th anniversary show. I got to play on Slipknot and Sepultura songs with these monsters – it was an amazing experience. Rest In Peace Joey and Paul, love you guys.”
