The founder and frontman of Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, recently posted an emotional message and thanked everyone who supported the ‘Save Our Stages Act‘ campaign and said that it wouldn’t have been possible without their help.

There is no doubt that Foo Fighters is one of the most famous bands of all time and as you may recall, in 2019, they had announced that have started working on their tenth studio album. In early 2020, Grohl had announced that ‘Medicine at Midnight‘ was completed and that the highly anticipated album would be released on February 5, 2021, in celebration of the band’s 25th anniversary.

With an album coming up in just a couple of months, Foo Fighters fans have been excitedly following the Foo Fighters official Instagram account through which the band often announces their latest news and plans. However this time, fans came across a heartfelt letter penned by the band’s founder, Dave Grohl, who thanked everyone that supported an important cause, the ‘Save Our Stages Act.’

The National Independent Venue Association started campaigning for the ‘Save Our Stages Act’ earlier this summer in support of independent live music venue operators who have been highly affected by the current pandemic and are on the verge of bankruptcy.

The act was introduced by U.S Senators Amy Klobuchar and John Cornyn back on July 22 which would provide Small Business Administration grants for independent live music venue operators so as to help them pay their bills and employees, and ultimately preserve an important economic sector for communities across the United States.

The Act was passed two days ago as a part of the economic stimulus bill and was a huge victory for everyone in the music industry. Grohl wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for their support and said that independent venues are important for both millions of music-goers and the future of music itself.

He also added that the absence of music this year has made everyone realize the crucial role that music and live performances play in our lives and how they encourage the formation of a community. He ended his heartfelt message by saying that hopefully ‘we can all experience that feeling again very soon.’

Here’s what Dave said in the letter:

“A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the Save Our Stages Act, which passed yesterday as a part of the economic stimulus bill. The preservation of America’s smaller, independent venues is not only crucial to the millions of concert-goers whose lives are bettered by experiencing their favorite artists in the flesh, but to the future of music itself, as it gives the next generation of young musicians a place to cut their teeth, hone their craft, and grow into the voices of tomorrow.

The absence of live music this year has left us longing for that communal feeling of connection, one that is best felt when joined in a song. The Save Our Stages Act brings us one step closer to sharing that feeling again, one that I hope we can all experience again very soon.

Every day we’re one step closer.

See you there,
Dave.”

This is what Dave wrote in the caption of Foo Fighters’ recent Instagram post:

“Thank You. #saveourstages”
