One of the finest Queen and Freddie Mercury clubs on social media, Freddie Mercury Club posted rare unseen photos of Freddie Mercury and Elton John’s ex-boyfriend, John Reid who was also Queen’s manager for 3 years 1975-1977.

As you will see the photos below, Freddie and John looks really close and seem that they are having a great time together.

Here is the caption below.

“John Reid was Queen’s manager for 3 years 1975-1977 (after their fruitless contract with Trident). Queen played Reid a 40min gig at Bridge Farm and in Reid’s words: “I was blown away.”

Reid became Queen’s manager & it was also the start of a friendship btw him & Freddie. They went to dine & talk. Reid said “Hope U know I’m gay & it’s no problem” Freddie dropped his fork & said “So am I!”

Freddie also wrote “The Millionaire Waltz” for Reid.

By late 1977 it seemed John Reid lacked time to manage both Queen and Elton John properly. So Queen’s lawyer Jim Beach managed their exit from Reid Enterprises. Despite what you see in that so-called “biopic” the separation was 100% amicable & Freddie never fired Reid “making decisions for the band” as the movie suggests! But then again that is one of the smallest things in the film that’s the complete opposite of reality.”

💥Freddie & John Reid💥 . ✨John Reid was Queen's manager for 3 years 1975-1977 (after their fruitless contract with Trident). Queen played Reid a 40min gig at Bridge Farm and in Reid's words: "I was blown away." . ✨Reid became Queen's manager & it was also the start of a friendship btw him & Freddie. They went to dine & talk. Reid said "Hope U know I'm gay & it's no problem" Freddie dropped his fork & said "So am I!" . ✨Freddie also wrote "The Millionaire Waltz" for Reid. . ✨By late 1977 it seemed John Reid lacked time to manage both Queen and Elton John properly. So Queen's lawyer Jim Beach managed their exit from Reid Enterprises. Despite what you see in that so called "biopic" the separation was 100% amicable & Freddie never fired Reid "making decisions for the band" as the movie suggests! But then again that is one of the smallest things in the film that's the complete opposite of reality. . ✨According to David Minns: "John was fantastic for Freddie but not, it would seem, for all other members of the band. In the end, Freddie was outvoted by Brian, Roger and John." . ✨Roger Taylor also suggested that part of the reason they moved to another management was bc Elton John was jealous feeling "a bit threatened" by their success. . ✨John Reid and Freddie, however, remained great friends. Freddie invited both Reid & Elton to his 37th birthday in 1983. Reid was also at Freddie's epic 39th birthday party (see 7th photo). . ✨For his 41st birthday at Pikes, Ibiza, Freddie planned on co-hosting a party with Reid whose birthday was 4 days later (Freddie Sept 5th 1946, Reid Sept 9th 1949). Even though Reid couldn't make it that day & the failed joint bd party caused little friction btw the two, in Peter Freestone's words: "Freddie was no fickle friend." . ✨Once a third party was spilling dirty details of his relations with John Reid, Freddie snapped at him because he didn't like hearing others talk shit about his friends & felt very protective of them. . 👉P.S. So this was the truth of John Reid & his relations with Queen & esp Freddie. The movie blames Freddie for everything making saints of certain people when reality was quite different. . #FreddieMercury #JohnReid
