As this is the 39 years anniversary of losing The Beatles legend John Lennon, Freddie Mercury’s biggest fan club on social media, @freddiemercuryclub shared a golden worth video of how Queen and Freddie Mercury paid their tribute to John Lennon.
As you might check out the whole story below, Freddie Mercury performed The Beatles’ classic, ‘Imagine’ at Wembley Arena on December 9th, 1980, the day after John’s death.
Here is the caption of that unforgettable performance:
“Even though Freddie didn’t know all the lyrics by heart and Brian lost track of the chords, the chorus was taken up by a sobbing crowd of shocked and heartbroken fans. 😢
The fact that they were so thoughtful to put together a tribute at last minute is beyond thoughtful, and hearing Freddie sing this song on that special night always warms my heart…
To think of how hasty and last minute the performance was put together with no time for preparation and yet Freddie did it with such heartfelt emotion and passion leaves me speechless…only Freddie could do it 🙌
If you ask me, this is one of the most iconic moments in history…legend paying tribute to another legend… Both very missed ❤
Freddie also wrote “Life is Real” as another tribute to Lennon and included it on their Hot Space album..#respect 💛
