Exodus and Slayer guitarist, Gary Holt, recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and celebrated the birthday of one of his favorite metal-heads while saying that he‘s one of the few people who Exodus would be glad to tour with forever.
As you may know, Gary Holt has been in the metal scene since 1981, which was the time when he joined Exodus after Tim Agnello left the band. Holt achieved great success and some years later, he was hired by Slayer to fill in for Jeff Hanneman and in 2013 it was confirmed that he had become a permanent member.
Gary Holt is currently the most senior member of Exodus and the only member who has played on every album. As for Slash, he remained a member of the legendary band until their disbandment in 2019. Being such a popular figure in the metal scene obviously means that Gary Holt often had the chance to perform with numerous bands, such as the well known Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura.
In his recent Instagram post, Gary Holt celebrated the birthday of Sepultura’s frontman Derrick Green and referred to him as his brother. He also said that Derrick Green is one of the few people on Exodus’s list of band and names, with which the band would be glad to share the stage for the rest of their days.
Here’s what Gary Holt said in the caption of his Instagram post:
“Happy birthday to my bro Derrick Green! One of the guys on that Exodus list of bands and people with whom we would be perfectly happy only touring with for the rest of our days! Good times! Hope you have a great one!🤘🏻”
