Exodus guitarist Gary Holt shared a post on his official Instagram page from a metal music meme page revealing a fun fact about Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Exodus, and apparently, all four bands have exchanged guitarists at some point in their career.
As you may know, in addition to his career with Exodus of which Holt is the guitarist, the bandleader, and the main songwriter, Gary Holt has been a member of Slayer from 2011 to 2019, replacing Jeff Hanneman after he passed away.
Another iconic name in the circle, Kirk Hammett, is widely known for being the lead guitarist and a contributing songwriter for Metallica since 1983. However, before joining Metallica, Hammett was the original member of Exodus in addition to forming and naming the band.
Moreover, Megadeth co-founder, vocalist, and lead guitarist David Mustaine was the original lead guitarist of Metallica prior to forming Megadeth. The last name in the circle, guitarist Kerry King was a member of Megadeth for a short time period before scoring fame as a member of Slayer
Recently, a metal music page noticed the circle created by the four legendary bands, which had switched guitarists over the years, and made a meme on Instagram. One of the guitarists in the circle, Gary Holt shared the hilarious meme on his official Instagram page calling it ‘the circle of life.’ According to the meme, Metallica once had a Megadeth guitarist, Megadeth has a Slayer guitarist, Slayer had an Exodus guitarist, and lastly, Exodus had a Metallica guitarist.
