Slayer and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has taken his verified Instagram account today to mourn one of the most famous figures of the history of the Swedish music scene, Lars Göran Petrov, after his unexpected death at the age of 49.
Lars Göran Petrov was considered one of the best heavy metal musicians in Sweden and highly known for his work with Entombed. The band was founded back in 1987 and after they have failed to remain steady with a proper vocalist, they have reunited with L.G Petrov in the early ’90s.
After being fired from the band with the allegations of harassing bandmate Nicke Andersson’s girlfriend, he returned to Entombed once again in 1992. In most of his interviews, Petrov stated that he was influenced by many legendary bands like KISS, Iron Maiden and Voivod.
Unfortunately, he lost his long-time battle with bile duct cancer yesterday and his death was confirmed by the official Facebook page of the band. Today, Slayer star Gary Holt has posted a photo of Petrov and shared his condolences to the legend.
Here is what Gary said:
“RIP LG Petrov of the mighty Entombed. One of the heaviest bands of all time, and an absolute legend. You will be missed by all.”
